Καλημέρα!
When I came here, Kryoneri wasn’t new for me: last year I took part in a short-term volunteering project and I fell in love with the cozy small village and thanks to the people and memories it became a second home. When I understood for my gap year that the ESC opportunity was a good possibility for me, I instantly jumped on Filoxenia.
Although I’m in the same place, the two experiences are significantly different. On one hand a frenetic month immersed in an international context during which I worked in nature. On the other hand now, months spent making the incoming groups have the best time, getting in touch with local people and the Greek lifestyle.
I have done a lot of different kinds of jobs and this is an advantage because it lets me develop new skills and broaden my horizons. I organized events for the local community, I assisted the organization while new people are coming here through housekeeping tasks or through more office work, I do physical work in nature, I help villagers with the olive harvest and other stuff.
During these 8 months I have been very glad to have the opportunity to discover a new country and its traditions, to taste amazing food, to learn a new language while improving others, to go out of my comfort zone and to grow.
In conclusion I would say that the social aspect has been a big positive impact on my life. Each of the people I’ve met are affecting me in different ways and I’m collecting memories which I will never forget through my life.
Last but not least, I would like to say thanks to the villagers and the people who work in Filoxenia for having been so welcoming and making my experience wonderful!
Ευχαριστώ πάρα πολύ ΦΙΛΟΞΕΝΙΑ και Κρυονέρι, τα λέμε!
Andrea
