From Liechtenstein to Kryoneri
My name is Niklas and I had the possibility to stay about 4 months in Kryoneri. I was well received and I was staying in the beautiful Hostel Elisson.
The goal of my work was to support the village and my hosting organisation “Filoxenia” in all possible ways. This means I had the possibility to help a local farmer with the olive harvest, I was able to give tandem lessons with the kids from the village. We taught them English and German and they taught us Greek. Furthermore, I was responsible for the village’s website and the hiking trails. Here I learned a lot about webdesign, programming and I was also able to get to know the beautiful landscape around Kryoneri. I had a lot of fun with these tasks.
In the last weeks of my time in Kryoneri, me and the other volunteers received Greek lessons from a teacher in the village. I benefited a lot from the lessons and I am glad that I was able to participate.
Looking back, I am very glad that Filoxenia made this time possible for me. I was able to meet many interesting and lovely people, made new friends and gained valuable experience.
