Between 13-18 February 2024 and 11-16 March 2024, the Filoxenia and Sprühlinge associations organised a special project to create an audio guide that brings to life the history of the village of Kryoneri/Matsani, concerning the rescue of the Jewish family Kamhi during World War II.
The aim of the meeting was to gather ideas on how to bring local history to life to help preserve cultural heritage. The first part of the meeting "Echoes of History: An audio guide for memory walks" took place in Berlin, where theoretical knowledge was gathered, which could then be put into practice in the second part of the project in Kryoneri. The participants also learned how an audio guide works best after visiting the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin. The audio guide was recorded, tested and evaluated.
It will soon be available on our village website www.matsani.gr and can be used for hikes to the Karamanos cave, the place where the Jewish family hid.
