Youth exchange between Greek and German participants with the themes: Art and Europe, which took place in a small village called Buschdorf, by Bonn, Germany.
This idea was related with the last youth exchange, which took place in Kryoneri, Korinthia, in the period of 02.09.17-09.09.17, where there was build a huge Mosaic bull, with Europe (like the Mythos) upon it's horns, on the wall of the cultural center “Polykentro” of the village Kryoneri.
In the period 30/10/17 - 05/11/17 six participants and one youth leader from FILOXENIA association visited Buschdorf and cooperating with the Jugendzentrum (youth center) Lucky Luke and the association Bonner Verein für Jugendförderung e.V, the second part of the youth exchange “Europe/Mosaic” took place.
During this project, it was possible for the youngsters to meet again with the friends, they have met already in Greece and work on an art project, with the help and the knowledge of their leaders. The youngsters participated in many different activities, that happened in Buschdorf and the nearby region, like: energizers, cooking together, getting to know Buschdorf and it's story, traditional German games, like Kegeln, visits in Bonn and Cologne, to see the Beethoven's house, or the Kölner Dom and taste a traditional German Curry Wurst but also group work on a bull, made of wood, and paint upon it all the European flags.
Even though the youth exchange had an artistic perspective, there were some activities, that putted another aspect in the youth exchange, which indeed is: history. The youngsters had the chance to have an interview with second world war survivors from the village, in consideration of the bomb break, that happened in the time 1943 in Buschdorf. Interesting was also the meeting with a reporter from the Greek part of Deutsche Welle, located in Bonn, but also a small interview from the local newspaper.
The accommodation was organized in families in Buschdorf and Bonn, something, that was new till now and that made the Greek participants realize in another way the German way of living, by living it their selves. It also helped the young people to develop their knowledge and thoughts about the Greek and German culture.
In conclusion, this youth exchange brought again people together, who have met some months ago and couldn't wait to meet again, gave the opportunity to new people to travel abroad for the first time, gave the chance of learning more artistic and historical aspects and left a good feeling behind.
This project was supported by the German special program for Greece Jugendaustausch - Sonderprogramm Griechenland.
